Rare hawksbill sea turtle released back into the wild

- A hawksbill turtle, weighing 15 kg and 0.6 meters long, was released back to the sea safely earlier this week in Cat Thanh commune, Phu Cat district, Binh Dinh province, after a fisherman discovered it caught in a net and helped rescue it.

Hawksbill turtle is an endangered species as classified by the International Union for Conservation of Nature . It is one of five rare sea turtle species included in Vietnam Red Book that are under serious threat and need to be preserved.

Since 2016, fishermen of Binh Dinh province have released and rescued 39 sea turtles and protected 13 sea turtle egg nests with 663 baby turtles safely to the sea in the Ky Co sea area , Con cape and Dong beach of Quy Nhon city.
